What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the studio:

• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication details when you create an account.
• Your writing — manuscripts, chapters, plot boards, goals, and related content you create in Scribrly, stored so we can sync it across your devices.
• Usage data — basic product analytics (features used, errors encountered) that help us improve the studio.
• Billing details — handled by our payment processor; Scribrly never stores your full card number.

How AI features use your writing

When you invoke a model-powered feature, the relevant portion of your text is sent to our service providers to produce the requested analysis or guidance. Our detailed data-handling terms are being finalized for the beta and this policy will be updated before access begins.

AI features run only when you invoke them. Drafting in the editor does not send your text anywhere by itself.

Your writing stays yours

You retain 100% of the intellectual property rights to everything you write in Scribrly. We claim no ownership, no license to publish, and no rights to your work beyond what is technically required to store and display it back to you.

Where your data lives

Before you sign up, your work is stored locally on your own device. After you create an account, manuscripts are synced to our cloud infrastructure so you can access them anywhere. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to what is necessary to operate the service.

Data retention and deletion

If you cancel a paid plan, your manuscripts and data remain accessible for 90 days so you can export everything. After that grace period, your data is permanently deleted. You can also request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

What we never do

• We never sell your personal data or your writing.
• We never share your writing with other users without your explicit action.
• We never hold your work hostage — export is available on every plan, at every moment.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or an in-product notice before the changes take effect.
