Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These terms govern your use of Scribrly. We've tried to write them the way we'd want to read them — plainly. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to what follows.

Your account

You need an account to sync your work and use paid features. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use Scribrly.

Your content and your rights

Everything you write in Scribrly is yours. You retain 100% of the intellectual property rights to your manuscripts, outlines, notes, and any other content you create. You grant us only the limited technical license needed to store your content, display it back to you, and operate features you invoke (like syncing or AI analysis). That license ends when your content is deleted.

AI features

Scribrly includes model-powered manuscript analysis, planning, and editorial guidance. These outputs are not professional editorial, legal, or publishing advice. You are responsible for your manuscript and for every change you choose to make.

Plans, trials, and billing

The Starter plan is free. Author Pro is billed monthly and starts with a 14-day free trial that doesn't require a credit card. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period — no long-term contracts, no cancellation fees.

Cancellation and your data

If you cancel, your manuscripts remain accessible for export for 90 days, after which they are permanently deleted. You can export your work at any time while your account is active.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Scribrly to violate any law or the rights of others.
  • Attempt to breach, probe, or overload our systems.
  • Resell or redistribute the service or its AI output as a competing product.
  • Upload content you don't have the right to use.

Service availability

We work hard to keep Scribrly available and your data safe, but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted availability. We recommend exporting important work regularly. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or in-product notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Scribrly after a change means you accept the updated terms.
